Ways to Donate

“How much service and sacrifice has the Past a right to require of the Present? This duty of saving the record is a sacred charge upon all intelligent communities.” Henry Chapman Mercer

The Mercer and Fonthill Museums of the Bucks County Historical Society offer donors a variety of ways to support their mission. Please see the links below to learn more about how you can support these amazing buildings and collections.
Annual Fund- Donate online

In 1880, a small group of individuals led by William Watts Hart Davis, Ex-Civil war general and leading figure in the community, formed the Bucks County Historical Society. Among these dedicated founders was a young 24-year-old man, Henry Chapman Mercer who would transform this organization while leaving a rich cultural legacy for generations to come…the Mercer Museum and Fonthill.

Your gift above and beyond membership will support the general operations of the museums. The Centennial Guild is the annual giving program of the Bucks County Historical Society.

When you make your unrestricted gift, you will be contributing not only to the care and preservation of our unique collections and exhibits, but also to fund educational programs for future generations to experience. Our outreach program brings historical interpreters and artifacts to the schools that lack the resources to bring their students to the museums. Your annual gift has an immediate and significant impact on the Museums’ ability to educate and inspire.

Donations of $1000 and more are recognized annually on a plaque in the Gemmill Pavilion at the Mercer Museum. Gifts of $100 or more are included in the annual donor recognition list. For further information, please contact the annual fund coordinator at 215-345-0210 x 129.

Memorial Wall at the Mercer Museum
The Memorial Wall is a place for families and friends to pay tribute to a loved one alongside some of Bucks County’s most famous historical figures. James Michener, and of course, Henry Mercer himself are part of a permanent memorial in the Mercer Museum.

A gift of $1,000 ($940 tax deductible) adds a Memorial Tile to the wall permanently.  These funds are added to the Endowment of the Bucks County Historical Society which means that your gift ensures the preservation of the Mercer Museum for years to come.  There are many Bucks County historical figures who are not yet memorialized on the tile wall- Pearl Buck, Oscar Hammerstein, Margaret Mead, and more are just waiting for a sponsor.

For more information on a Gift in Tribute or the Memorial Wall program please call the membership coordinator at 215-345-0210 x 129.
