Explore the Mercer and Fonthill Museum’s objects, buildings, and stories through hands-on, creative programs designed specifically to engage our younger visitors and their families. Throughout the year, there are free monthly activities, family workshops, reading series, and much more. We also offer the following annual events that have become community favorites:

Doll's Day Out
The First Saturday in March, Mercer Museum
Enjoy this memorable community event that includes a tea and doll fashion show, doll craft station, and local vendors with the latest in doll fashions. Visitors are encouraged to bring their dolls along for this special day. |

Civil War Encampment
Memorial Day Weekend, Mercer Museum and Museum Grounds
Join Civil War re-enactors from the McClellan Rangers and other outfits as they interpret the daily drills and camp life of the Union Civil War soldier. Visit with the soldiers, watch drilling and medical demonstrations, march with the uniformed re-enactors, try on equipment, and listen to period music performed on drum and fife. |

Fall Sleepover
October (Date Varies), Mercer Museum
Search the museum to discover the treasures Mercer’s castle holds, hear unbelievable tales in the log house, and create a craft to take home. Don’t forget to bring a costume for the parade through the museum! Before lights out at midnight, families watch an age-appropriate show tied to the sleep over theme. Enjoy a delicious breakfast in the morning.

Holiday Festivities at Fonthill Museum
December (Date Varies), Fonthill Museum & Moravian Pottery and Tile Works
Begin the holiday season at Henry’s house. Enjoy Fonthill’s holiday decorations during a ground floor open house. Sip hot cider and enjoy and make a handmade ornament. Help decorate the tree at the Tile Works and enjoy hot chocolate, cookies, holiday music, and a visit with Santa.

Holiday Open House at the Mercer Museum
Second Tuesday in December, Mercer Museum & Michener Museum
Delight in the sounds, scents, and scenes of the holidays at the traditional Mercer Museum Holiday Open House. Sing along with carolers in Central Court, sip hot cider as you join in the burning of the greens, and be sure to whisper your holiday wishes to Santa in the Log House. Don’t forget to visit the Michener Art Museum’s Open House across the street!
