Vanessa Smith, widely recognized as the first female African-American circus ringmaster, and Robert Houston, a Philadelphia-based circus collector and enthusiast, recount their experiences of lives spent in and around the Big Top.  On view will be costumes and other items from Smith’s career as a performer, plus African-American circus memorabilia from the Houston collection.
