Vanessa Smith, widely recognized as the first female African-American circus ringmaster, and Robert Houston, a Philadelphia-based circus collector and enthusiast, recount their experiences of lives spent in and around the Big Top. On view will be costumes and other items from Smith’s career as a performer, plus African-American circus memorabilia from the Houston collection. Light refreshments and conversation will conclude the program. Presented in collaboration with the African-American Museum of Bucks County. Included with museum admission.
