Fire companies from Bucks County and the nearby Delaware Valley display their fire equipment, and showcase contemporary firefighting methods and technologies, at this free, outdoor event at the Mercer Museum (Museum admission is free for kids with a paying adult.)  The afternoon will also includes special demonstrations like a “side by side burn,” a live, graphic demonstration of the role sprinklers play in containing and extinguishing fires before they get out of control. (Presented by the Mid-Atlantic Region, National Fire Sprinkler Assn.) Activities for children include storytelling, bucket brigade and helping firefighters put out a “fire” in a model house.  See a special advance screening of “Let’s Go to the Firehouse!” a locally-produced video by Scott Seraydarian of Lunch Productions, Inc. The video will be included as a DVD with the Touch-and-Feel Board Book of the same name, published by Cartwheel Books/Scholastic. The screening is great for kids (and grown-ups alike!) and features many of Bucks County Fire Companies in action!  Firefighting Day is presented in collaboration with the Bucks County Fire Chiefs’ and Firefighters’ Association.  Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
