As participants and spectators, Americans love racing. We race to compete and win, to improve ourselves, and master our machines, to find community with others and simply for fun, thrills and the love of spectacle. Explore the colorful history of racing in Bucks County, PA and the Delaware Valley from the footraces of early Native Americans and colonists to the horse tracks and fairgrounds of the 1800’s, to the auto speedways and bicycle velodromes of the 20th century. Objects on view include original cars that once raced on local tracks, vintage cycling gear, harness racing sulkies, racing medals and trophies and more. Test your skill and speed with some racing “try-its.” Developed and curated by the Mercer Museum.
