Movies at the Mercer Museum

The Mercer Museum and The County Theater, in partnership with The Moving Picture Cinema, bring outdoor movies to the community with the 2023 Movies at the Mercer Museum series.

Join us on the third Thursday of each month on the Green of the Mercer Museum for a family-friendly series of outdoor film screenings.

Thursday, May 18, 2023: The Wizard of Oz (1939)

MGM’s legendary technicolor spectacular, has stunned audiences since its release, offering iconic musical numbers, a cast of memorable characters, and, of course, Dorothy’s famous ruby slippers. Dorothy Gale (Judy Garland) is swiftly taken out of her life in Kansas, dropped into the world of Oz, sent on a quest to discover the all-powerful Wizard, all while doing battle with the Wicked Witch of the West.

Steven Spielberg’s live-action adaptation of the Peter Pan story finds an adult Peter having to return to Neverland to save his abducted children from the vengeful Captain Hook. Featuring an all-star ensemble of Robin Williams, Dustin Hoffman, Julia Roberts, Bob Hoskins, and Maggie Smith.

This big-budget, musical remake of the ‘80s John Waters comedy classic features an all-star cast led by John Travolta as the mother (taking over the role made famous by the drag queen, Divine) to dancing-loving teen – Tracy Turnblad. Growing up in ‘60s Baltimore, Tracy teaches her city a thing or two about racial integration after landing a spot on a local TV dance show. Bright and campy, Hairspray is the perfect summer film with plenty of heart and contagious songs that will make you get up and dance! Also starring Nikki Blonsky, Zac Efron, Michelle Pfeiffer, Queen Latifah, and Christopher Walken.
