In this special virtual Zoom lecture with Michener Art Museum’s Curator of American Art Dr. Laura Igoe, investigate artwork by Edward Hicks with a focus on “William Penn’s Treaty with the Lenape Indians” and explore how the global dissemination of these images—in print, textile, paint and other media—perpetuated a myth of harmonious relations between Anglo-American and Native Americans at a time of heightened conflict between those two groups.
