National History Day

About

National History Day is an annual academic enrichment program for students in grades 6-12 that encourages thoughtful historical research, project-based learning, and a dose of friendly competition. Students enter, as individuals or as a group, in one of five distinct categories: documentary films, exhibits, papers, performances, or websites.

The 2026 National History Day Regional Contest for Bucks and Montgomery Counties was held at Delaware Valley University in Doylestown, PA, on Saturday, March 28, 2026.
Coordinated by the staff of the Bucks County Historical Society, who operate the Mercer Museum & Fonthill Castle in Doylestown, PA, this annual regional contest allows middle and high school students in Bucks and Montgomery Counties to explore history beyond the classroom.

Regional winners move on to their state-level competition. The 2026 Pennsylvania State Contest was held at the University of Scranton on Saturday and Sunday, April 25-26, 2026.

Top entries from the Pennsylvania State Contest are invited to compete on the national level. The 2026 National Contest was held at the University of Maryland from June 14-18, 2026.
