Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer-OpportunitiesVolunteers play an essential role at the Mercer Museum and Library & Fonthill Castle, operated by the Bucks County Historical Society. Without volunteers we would not be able to maintain the quality and scope of programs and operations that allow us to serve an ever-growing and diverse audience. A variety of volunteer and internship positions are available.

Volunteers enjoy the benefits of on-site educational opportunities, shop discounts, free admission to all sites, special discounts on all program offerings, recognition and new friendships. Training and support are provided. Hours and days are flexible. For more information contact  info@mercermuseum.org or to sign up to become a volunteer, click here. Volunteer Opportunities

Mercer Museum & Library

Public Relations & Membership
: Our organization participates in many local conferences, community events and business fairs. We are always in need of volunteers to help promote our programs and memberships at these events. Our Membership Team is always in need of volunteers to assist with our calendar of events, newsletter, and other mailings.

Special Events: Throughout the year we hold many special events and programs at the Mercer Museum. Volunteers for our special events would have various duties such as, soliciting door prizes and gifts, recruiting local business participation in these projects, event preparation and clean up, and assisting guests.

Public Programs: We have wide range of programming at the museum that caters to diverse audiences. We are always in need of volunteers for family programs, adult programs, exhibit openings, Boy Scout and Girl Scout events, holiday programming, and much more!

Speaker’s Bureau: The Museum presents programs to community groups on a variety of subjects. Volunteers are needed to facilitate and present this type of community outreach.

Education Programs: There is always need for volunteers to assist with school and camp programs. We have school and camp programming taking place throughout the year. If one is interested in working with children, making crafts, and teaching history then this is the volunteer opportunity for you!

Maintenance and Landscaping: Assistance is needed for general maintenance and to help care for plantings around the Mercer’s new wing.

Fonthill Castle

Volunteer OpportunitiesMuseum Guide: Volunteers would conduct adult and/or school tours. Guides develop their own thematic tour of the house!

Special Projects: Assistance is always needed for program preparation and conducting research.

Maintenance: Fonthill Castle can use individuals to lovingly care for and help maintain this unique structure.

Old-Fashioned Fourth of July: This annual Fonthill Castle celebration needs volunteers for a variety of tasks, such as, parking, games, crafts, admissions, and more.

Education Programs: Volunteers can be  huge help in allowing Fonthill’s innovative and popular programs to continue. School and camp programming take place throughout the entire year. Help out with camps, education and family programs, birthday parties and more!
