Once Upon a Time…Exploring the World of Fairy Tales

September 29, 2018 – January 6, 2019

Step inside the pages of beloved fairy tales from around the globe in this hands-on, interactive exhibit for children ages 3-10.  From an African jungle to a giant’s castle, seven fairy tales are brought to life including Anansi and the Talking Melon, Beauty and the Beast,  Cinderella, The Elves and the Shoemaker, Jack and the Beanstalk, Lon Po Po and Thumbelina.  Once Upon A Time…Exploring the World of Fairy Tales is a collaborative effort of the St. Louis Public Library and The Magic House, St. Louis Children’s Museum and is made possible by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Racing: A Need for Speed

May 12 – September 9,  2018
Mercer Museum

As participants and spectators, Americans love racing.  We race to compete and win, to improve ourselves, and master our machines, to find community with others and simply for fun, thrills and the love of spectacle.  In this original exhibition, explore the colorful history of racing in Bucks County, PA and the Delaware Valley across four sports-motor racing, horse racing, foot racing and cycling,  from the footraces of early Native Americans and colonists to the horse tracks and fairgrounds of the 1800’s, to the auto speedways Generously sponsored by:and bicycle velodromes of the 20th century.  Objects on view include original cars that once raced on local tracks, vintage cycling gear, harness racing sulkies, racing medals and trophies and more. Test out your skill and speed with some racing “try-its.”
