The Mercer Museum’s annual holiday exhibit captures the excitement of Christmas from a child’s point of view. The show features trees decorated to the tastes of earlier eras, together with some of the toys and games that once delighted children on Christmas mornings. The display draws from the Mercer Museum’s holdings and local private collections, and includes popular playthings from the Victorian Era through the 1980s. Period ornaments and appropriate reproductions adorn the trees, and show the evolution of Christmas traditions. Some of the toys on view this year include Tonka trucks, Fisher-Price toys, dollhouses from the Sharon Holloway Dollhouse and Miniatures Collection, Star Wars collectibles, classic wooden toys and tin windups. The exhibit is included with museum admission.
